125th National Business League Conference

Presented by the National Alliance for Black Business® (NABB)

125 Years of Black Business Enterprise (BBE) Power: The Booker T. Washington Model Continues

Honoring the Legacy. Advancing the Future.

For 125 years, the National Business League (NBL) has been the premier advocate for Black economic empowerment. Founded in 1900 by Booker T. Washington, the National Negro Business League was the first and largest business organization dedicated to fostering economic self-reliance, self-determination, and sovereignty for Black businesses and communities.

Renamed in 1966, the NBL has since evolved into a global economic powerhouse, mobilizing Black entrepreneurs, corporate executives, policymakers, and industry leaders across the Pan-Black diaspora to drive innovation, wealth creation, and enterprise development.

A Historic Celebration of Legacy & Innovation

This Quasquicentennial Anniversary Celebration is more than a milestone—it is a global economic movement dedicated to advancing Black Business Enterprise (BBE) and strengthening international business alliances that will shape the next century of Black economic excellence.

WE ARE TOGETHER: The National Alliance for Black Business

In 1972, The Honorable Mayor Johnny Ford introduced the phrase “We Are Together,” igniting a movement toward a unified Black business agenda that continues to inspire economic collaboration and strategic partnerships.

This vision laid the foundation for the National Alliance for Black Business (NABB)—a coalition co-founded by the National Black Chamber of Commerce, the World Conference of Mayors, and over 100 leading Black business and professional organizations committed to economic self-reliance and sovereignty.

Just as Booker T. Washington convened the world’s Black business leaders in Boston on August 23-24, 1900, this historic convening will bring together the most powerful economic stakeholders in the global Pan-Black business community to drive innovation, policy, investment, and sustainable enterprise development.
